Let’s talk about general liability insurance. General liability is the foundation of any commercial insurance program. It defends you if your business operation causes bodily injury or property damage to other people and their stuff. It can provide that coverage on your premise or if you’re in the business of servicing or installing, it can provide that protection off your premise.

If you’re in the business of selling something, it could also provide that protection if your product harms someone. If your business is found negligent, the policy can provide protection against that financial loss. General liability does not provide coverage for your stuff or your people. For that, you have commercial property insurance or worker’s compensation. Two completely separate policies.

Now, keep in mind that not all policies are created equal, and this isn’t intended of being a comprehensive review of your policy. It’s intended to help you ask questions when you’re reviewing your policy. For more answers to your insurance questions, contact us. Thank you.
