When you’re a small business owner, you’ll quickly grow to realize that there are a lot of things that may make you uncomfortable. Unfortunately, that’s just par for the course. This is especially true if you’re an introvert.

Small business owners must get used to stepping outside their comfort zone. If you’re not typically comfortable with approaching people and socializing, that’s something you’ll have to get used to doing. Nobody will come and knock on your door and present you with a legitimate business opportunity. You’ve got to go out into the world and make those opportunities for yourself. It’s up to you to grow your business – and you can’t do that without starting a conversation.

Put Yourself Out There

Although it may not seem like it, not putting yourself out there is one of the significant things that can hold back small business owners, coaches, therapists, and more. Nobody teaches you how to run a business growing up, so you must learn it for yourself. You have to be able to do your own research and find out for yourself everything you need to know, even if it makes you uncomfortable.

Many professions (psychology, for example) aren’t traditionally sales-y. If you’re a psychologist, you’ll be able to help many more clients and reach a wider audience if you have a presence and make yourself known. You don’t have to be super heavy with the marketing or trying to push people to work with you. Just putting some information about who you are and what you do on a few media sites can make a huge difference.

You Don’t Have to be Pushy

The thing is, you don’t have to push your business onto people. Like attracts like, as they say. If you put your information out there for people to see, it will eventually reach the right audience who needs what you’re offering. All you have to do is make yourself available. If nobody knows who you are, nobody will be able to work with you.
