Do you have a Question?
Is boat repair insurance the same as marina insurance?
No. Though marina’s may have boat repairers or mechanics employed. The insurance for boat repair or marine service shop is generally for businesses engaged in the repair and maintenance of boats and yachts. Not the storage, mooring or launching vessels. Marina insurance is typically more complex. It can also be a quite bit more expensive.
What should boat repairers know about liability insurance?
General liability for boat repairers explained
General liability defends you if your work injures someone or damages other property. It does not cover the boat you are working on, and marinas ask for it before they let you on the premises.
What is ship repairers legal liability insurance?
An option on most marine general liability policies that covers damage to the vessel you are working on, similar to garagekeepers coverage for an auto repair shop.
General liability is not a warranty
Insurance protects against injury or damage your work causes to others. It does not cover your own work, such as making a boat dirtier when you were hired to clean it.

Is insurance for a marine service shop required in Florida?
Florida requires workers’ compensation once a boat repair business has four or more employees. Owners who are corporate officers or LLC members count toward that number; sole proprietors and partners don’t, unless they choose to be covered (Florida Division of Workers’ Compensation).
Federal Longshore Act coverage applies to covered work on navigable waters and adjoining docks, piers and marine railways. Repairing recreational vessels is excluded if the workers are covered by state workers’ compensation; repair of commercial vessels generally isn’t (U.S. Department of Labor).
However, ask us now and we will respond quickly.
What is the price of marine artisan insurance?
Packages for small marine artisan businesses begin as low as $1,500.
However, large businesses with many employees and customers would pay more. The cost of coverage is related to volume of business and type of services offered.
